Good morning, fellow friends. I’m glad to be here for our club’s first get-together and thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak on ‘The Importance of Friendship.’
Friends are important in our lives. A friend is someone we know and whom we like a lot. We can keep a friendship for life.
Friends can be like our own brothers and sisters. We can even be closer to our friends than to our own brother and sisters. It is sometimes easier to talk to a friend than to them. We can confide in a friend, we readily tell them our secrets and true friends can keep a secret.
It is easy to make friends if we are not afraid to. We can make friends in school, with our neighbours, or in the park with people we meet there. However, it is not easy to stay friends forever. Many things can break up a friendship such as losing touch when our friends move away to another school or town. Jealousy and misunderstanding can also contribute to the break-up.
We must appreciate the saying that ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’. A friend who really help you, shares your joy and sadness, stays with you through thick and thin, is truly a friend. Thank you.
